Winter is officially here in Bisbee! It’s chilly outside both day and evening, with an average high of 62 degrees in the day. Since we’re a mile high, there is a chance of snow! But don’t worry, Bisbee winters are generally mild, so come and have some fun as there is lots to do both indoors and out.
Holiday Markets Galore
This month, Tinker and Twinkle is a weekend market at the Bisbee Coffee Company outdoor stage area, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays 11 am – 5 pm. Every purchase not only helps out a small local business, but also gets you entered into a raffle to win great prizes.
Chimera 27 Gallery on 27 Main St. is also hosting a Dark Market on December 13, 2 – 7 pm. Oddities, art, and artifacts from more than 10 vendors. December 13 is also the Second Saturday Art Walk in Bisbee, with most galleries open until 8 pm
Saturday December 13 is the annual Bisbee After Dark marketplace and variety show at the Hitching Post. Expect funny, corny, weird, performances by a bunch of talented Bisbee locals.
Music and Parties Galore
Saturday December 20 is the First Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Extravaganza at the newly opened Legion Bar & Grill, featuring Elves, Elvis, and hosted by the one-and-only Sabrina Solo!
The day after Christmas tends to be one of the busiest of the year, and so the Bisbee Grand is presenting a Boxing Day Fest featuring local acts The Exbats, Whiskey Lickers, Moramarco! Galena, and the Cherry Springers. The style of music ranges from folk to heavy metal, so there’s something for everyone. The show starts at 4 pm and there is a $7 suggested donation.
New Year’s Eve in Bisbee
Finally, New Year’s Eve is sure to go off this year. Local favorites Fatigo is hosting a night of music at the Silver King Hotel, starting at 8 pm. Over at the Bisbee Social Club, Counter Clockwise is playing classic rock covers all night. At St. Elmo we have the Super Beat Brothers’ DJ/hip hop. At Gene’s Place, Magic Kenny Bang Bang is hosting a New Year’s soiree. Old Bisbee Brewing Company has their annual ball drop from their patio. And there’s sure to be more announced. Did I mention that all the above events are free?
But perhaps the flagship event for New Year’s Eve in Bisbee this year is music, a parade, and performance by Flam Chen, a Tucson-based collective that combines stilt walking, aerial arts, and pyrotechnics. The evening starts off at 7pm at the Jonquil Motel with music and kid-friendly events, followed by a parade at 10pm down to City Park, when Flam Chen will perform at 11:20pm. This event is sponsored by the Bisbee Arts Commission and it is hoped that it will become an annual event. Once again, this free and all ages!
