This Month in Bisbee: June

by | Bisbee Buzz

We’re not gonna lie to you: June is the hottest month in Bisbee. Daytime temperatures in June typically peak between 88°F and 91°F (31–33°C), while nights offer a comfortable reprieve, dropping to roughly 60°F to 66°F (16–19°C). But compare that to Phoenix, with daytime highs averaging 102°F–104°F (39°C–40°C) and nights rarely dropping below 73°F–77°F (23°C–25°C).  Tucson is slightly cooler than Phoenix but still hot, with highs around 97°F–100°F (36°C–38°C) and lows near 68°F–71°F (20°C–22°C).

In other words, if you are in the lower desert, come get (a mile) HIGH in Bisbee! We’ve got lots of activities and live music both indoors and out to keep you both hot and cool at the same time!

Bisbee Royale Film Festival June 4 – 20

Now in its third year, the Bisbee Royale Film Festival is hitting its stride. Scheduled for THREE weekends in June, BRFF is showing 49 selections from fifteen countries. One of the highlights of the festival is the world premiere of Mining Memories: Celebrating 50 Years of the Copper Queen Mine. Students in the Bisbee High School Film/TV Production program, under the leadership of Brianna Young, have made a documentary that honors the town’s legacy.

Visit their website for the full lineup.

Celebrate Pride, Bisbee-style June 19 – 21

Bisbee Pride began in 2004 with just a small group of friends and has expanded to become one of Bisbee’s most popular weekends. The official schedule has yet to be announced, but the annual festivities that occur at the Copper Queen hotel, including the block party and the notorious Diving For Dildos have. Tickets can be purchased here.

Second Saturday Art Walk

A June evening is the perfect time to check out all the great galleries full of local art. Bisbee After 5 happens every 2nd Saturday, and all the galleries are open late, from 5 – 8pm. Many have snacks and wine as well as live music, so you might get a little buzz on top of it.

Grand June Events

As always, The Bisbee Grand Hotel has a top-notch selection of both local and touring acts. Their newly revamped stage has made listening (and playing) there, truly Grand. On June 13, Reggae star General Tchefary returns for an evening of dancing and joy. Tickets can be purchased in advance via the Bisbee Grand Website or at the door day of show.

Of course, every Friday and Saturday, the Bisbee Social Club hosts live music and DJs 9pm – midnight. During the day on Saturdays, cool off with Out of the Blue, who play jazz, funk, psychedelic, and blues 2 – 5pm.

So come on down to Bisbee, stay cool, be cool. If you’d like to find out what’s happening any given week in Bisbee, visit This Week in Bisbee which is updated every Tuesday and Friday.
