Yes, August in Bisbee is hot, but, generally speaking it’s the calmest and month in terms of winds (avg. 5.4 mph) and the cloudiest (46%). The average high is 87°F and it cools off with an average low of 69°F. This means, sunscreen and hats during the day, and a light jacket at night.
And although it’s one of the quietest months in our season, there’s still plenty to do every single week.
Ahoy! Pirate Weekend August 7 – 9
One of Bisbee’s most popular events is Bisbee Pirate Weekend, presented by Pirates of the Sky Islands. Get out your eyepatch and tricorne hat and come have some naughty nautical fun! Pirates, mermaids, and landlubbers unite to create a memorable event.

Elvis in Bisbeeland
Another awesome annual event pops up on Saturday August 15. Elvis has entered the building – more specifically, Elvis in Bisbeeland is here. Created by Gretchen Bonaduce, EIB is a party and concert.
This year, it’s at the Legion Bar and Grill and features Gretchen herself as the King, performing with Miner’s Cat as her backing band. Come in costume for even more outrageous fun.
Hot Days, Cool Nights in Bisbee
During the daytime, you can check out some of our fantastic, air-conditioned museums, such as the Bisbee Mining & History Museum, open daily until 4pm. For fans of street and graffiti art, Artemizia Gallery has a rotating collection of today’s hottest cutting-edge artists as well as a unique Beatles exhibit that is permanent. Thursday – Sunday 11 am – 4pm, 818 Tombstone Canyon. $10, but art openings are often free. And one of Bisbee’s best-kept secrets is its public pool! Rarely crowded and the perfect temperature, check the schedule to see if/when it’s open.
And when the sun drops behind the Mule Mountains, the air cools but the night heats up with great live music. The Bisbee Social Club has bands and DJs Fridays and Saturdays, and swanky cocktails Thur – Sun in a unique speakeasy environment. And now they have a retro arcade upstairs!
And be sure to check the Bisbee Grand Hotel’s schedule as they are consistently showcasing the best local talent as well as bringing in awesome touring acts. Highlights in August include Bisbee Grand Burlesque August 8 and a heavy metal night featuring Evasion August 29.
